Profile: Craig Booth
Hi, I'm director of Triventek Duct Cleaning Division and work also in the dry ice division of Triventek A/S. This is a duct cleaning and dry ice equipment company with direct offices and representation through most major territories in the world. Triventek is a member of the UK-based Hotchkiss Group. I also act as the GB distributor of Triventek equipment.
I've worked in the indoor air quality and building services hygiene field since 1981. I joined Winton Laboratories Limited in the Netherlands in 1981 and specialised in auditing low-level clean room environments such as mainframe computer rooms, pharmaceutical and micro-electronic environments. From 1988, back in the UK I got involved in developing indoor air quality, asbestos management, Legionella and building hygiene monitoring and remediation services. In 1991 I joined Houseman to develop the air hygiene business.
In 1993 I set up System Hygienics Limited on behalf of its associated company Hotchkiss Ductwork Limited. SHL is now the leading air hygiene company in the UK, employing new technology to good effect.
I got an ASCS qualification from NADCA back in 1997, and have often enjoyed meeting American and international duct cleaners at NADCA conventions etc where people are open and enthused about 'our thing': duct cleaning.
For my sins, I was the founding chairman of the UK Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association: Ventilation Hygiene Specialists Branch and chaired the Working Party which produced the TR17 Guide to Good Practice: ‘Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems’ (1998). Other publications to which I have contributed include: Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers TM26: ‘System Hygiene in Office Ventilation Systems’, and the Association of British Insurers: ‘Fire Risk Assessment: Catering Extract Ventilation’.
I've now started working with the European Ventilation Hygiene Association. I am also the representative from the HVCA to the British Standards Institute RHE/008 committee which feeds into the CEN which is active at the moment (2008) in formulating EU standards for ventilation hygiene etc.
Since 2003 I've also been working with dry ice both as a cleaning technology and as a portable cooling medium. Triventek holds a patent on dry ice production equipment which can give users dry ice at half price, and on tap.
